Ricky Ponting Career :-

  • Ponting was the captain of the Australian national team during its “golden era”, between 2004 and 2011 in test cricket and 2002 and 2011 at the One Day Internationals (ODIs) and is one of the most successful captains in international cricket history in 324 games with 220 wins a 67.91% win rate despite being the only Australian captain to lose three Ashes series. Widely regarded as one of the finest batsmen of modern times, he achieved the highest rating a Test batsman has had in 50 years in December 2006, though that was surpassed by Steve Smith in December 2017, a cricketer by number of international centuries behind Sachin Tendulkar.
  • A young and raw Ricky Ponting burst into the international arena in the year 1995 as he debuted in both the formats. He had garnered a big reputation in the domestic circuit for having the ability to produce the big runs and most people were in awe of his skill set. However, disciplinary issues were equally prevalent with Ricky back then and it did hound him in the initial years of his international career as well. But, he managed to pick himself up and from the 1998-99 season, started to mature steadily into a top flight batsman. Having started out as a middle order batsman, he also started to take ownership of the pivotal number three slot which he would make iconic in the years to follow.
  • Ponting made his international debut in 1995 in an ODI match against South Africa, and also made his Test debut the same year. He played alongside legends like Steve Waugh, Shane Warne, Brett Lee and Adam Gilchrist to name a few.
  • He kept on piling runs for Australia since his debut. His innings of 140* in the 2003 ICC Cricket World Cup final is most renowned as the mighty Australians blasted India out of the final scoring a huge total of 359.
  • He was in top form and had scored 5115 runs in 71 Test matches at an average of 52.73 and 4800 runs in 131 ODIs at an average of 41.37. He already had 26 international hundreds by then.
  • Ponting started his 1994–95 campaign with a century against eventual Shield champions Queensland in Brisbane, impressing Queensland captain Allan Border, “He’s just an outstanding prospect”, Border said. Speculation again arose that Ponting could become a candidate for the upcoming tour to the West Indies. When Tasmania played Western Australia at Bellerive Oval on 4 November 1994, Ponting scored 211. The century was his fifth successive against Western Australia; Sir Donald Bradman is the only other batsman to score five consecutive centuries against another state in Shield history.

Ricky Ponting Achievements/Records :-

  • Ponting executed nearly all of the classic shots flawlessly, making him maybe the finest pull shot player. His two centuries in his 100th Test match, a singular world record, have made him famous.
  • The only Australian to score over 10,000 runs in both ODIs and Tests is Ricky Ponting. In most centuries, he is rated third in both Tests and ODIs, but second when both formats are taken into account.
  • Ponting is the skipper of the most ODIs played. With 165 and 213 victories in ODIs and the combined format, he also holds the record for most wins as skipper in both competitions.
  • In both forms, Ponting leads Australia in runs scored and is second only to Sachin Tendulkar in One-Day Internationals.

Ricky Ponting Career low points :-

  • The only aspects of his career that “Punter” would rather ignore are his performances in India and his Ashes defeats. He was a bad batter as well as a captain in the subcontinent. In India, his test average is just 26, while it is over 40 in all the other countries.
  • In 2013, following a disappointing home series against South Africa, he made the decision to retire.

Ricky Ponting retiring from abroad :-

  • After retiring from international cricket, Ponting went on to play for the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League and the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League. Like many former cricket players, he also started doing commentary for Channel 9 and Ten Sports, where he did rather well.
  • In the ninth IPL season, he served as a tutor to Sachin Tendulkar and the Mumbai Indians, and he eventually took over as their coach from John Wright. Under his leadership, the Mumbai-based team won its third IPL crown.

IPL 2024 match between LSG vs DC Kuldeep Yadav strikes twice in one over and brilliantly dismisses Nicholas Pooran

IPL 2024 match between the LSG vs DC, star spinner Kuldeep Yadav of the Delhi Capitals struck twice in as many deliveries, removing two of the team’s top hitters.

IPL 2024 match between the LSG vs DC, star spinner Kuldeep Yadav of the Delhi Capitals struck twice in as many deliveries, removing two of the team’s top hitters. The cricketer, who was born in Kanpur, sent Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran packing as the Capitals took an early lead.

Stoinis attempted a hoick across the line in the seventh over of the innings, but Ishant Sharma made an easy catch at backward point, allowing him to just receive a leading edge.

Arshad Khan replaced the injured Mayank Yadav, who was experiencing abdominal pain, after KL Rahul won the toss and decided to bat first earlier. The Super Giants have defeated the Gujarat Titans, Punjab Kings, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) three times in a row.

LSG vs DC: Kuldeep Yadav missed the last 3 Delhi Capitals games.

Due to a niggle, Kuldeep had been recommended to rest for the past three Capitals games. This was especially important because the T20 World Cup 2024 is scheduled to start in June. Nevertheless, the 29-year-old made an immediate impression. Jake Fraser-McGurk, who will play in his first IPL match, Shai Hope, and Mukesh Kumar were also added by the Delhi-based team.

The Capitals have dropped four of their last five games, and they are presently in dangerous territory. They lost against the Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings to start the campaign.
